LEGO Friends Birthday Party Ideas & Theme Planning Guide

It’s my birthday week—time for Birthday Bliss Week on Urban Bliss Life! All week I’ll share birthday parties I’ve hosted for my kids plus one fun inspiration post with printables to spark your party planning. I hope these ideas help you create a memorable celebration.

We’re kicking off Birthday Bliss Week with one of my favorite parties: a LEGO Friends birthday party I threw for my daughter’s sixth birthday.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I designed the items shown here strictly for personal use and cannot sell or distribute the printed items as photographed. Please visit my Urban Bliss online shop for party printables and related items you can purchase. Thank you for your support!

Lego Friends Birthday Party Planning Tips and Party Ideas

Do you have a child who’s obsessed with Legos? Mine are Lego fanatics—we have enough to stock a small store. For my daughter’s 6th birthday she wanted a Lego Friends theme. At the time Lego Friends was newer and party options were limited, so we made many items ourselves. It ended up being a joyful, hands-on celebration with twelve kindergarten girls (and a few boys) laughing and creating memories.

Below is a look at the DIY projects and party elements we used to bring the Lego Friends theme to life.

INVITATIONS

I designed our invitations, thank-you cards, and address labels using Lego Friends colors and characters for a simple, playful look. Note: because these designs include licensed characters, they were created for personal use only and are not available for resale. FOOD

I enjoy baking and prefer decorating cupcakes to frosting whole cakes, which might explain the rustic look of the cake. The Lego cake was made from two 9″ x 9″ square pans for the base, and four inverted cupcakes with their tops removed became the studs. I added a simple striped-straw banner for a cheerful touch.

We served pink lemonade with striped pink straws to match the palette.

For Lego-shaped sugar cookies I cut squares and rectangles from my favorite sugar cookie dough and iced them to resemble bricks. The lemon icing was a simple mix of meringue powder, lemon juice, and powdered sugar.

My daughter’s contribution was cubed cheese with pretzel sticks—perfectly thematic since it’s cubed.

I also used a Lego chocolate mold and colored melting chocolate to make simple Lego chocolate bars that doubled as treats and table decor.

DECORATIONS

For decorations I created a few banners—one above the fireplace and another above the dessert table—and added homemade tissue paper pom-poms in fuchsia and purple to frame the displays.

ACTIVITIES

With younger guests I like to set up multiple activity stations so each child can find something they enjoy. Stations also help keep the party running smoothly.

One favorite is a word-search station, tailored to the age group with larger fonts and simpler words for younger kids and more challenging puzzles for older ones.

Lego Friends Coloring and Bookmark Station

Coloring is always popular. I printed multiple Lego Friends coloring pages, set out crayons, and encouraged kids to place finished pages in their favor bags. At the craft table they made foam bookmarks using simple supplies, which doubled as a take-home activity.

Lego Friends Creation Station

We set up a Creation Station with bins of Legos where kids could build whatever inspired them—a great open-ended activity that encourages imagination.

Two final group activities were a guesstimation jar—kids guessed how many Legos were inside, and the closest guess won a small prize—and a Lego Friends trivia game based on the characters, which we played together as a group.

PARTY FAVORS

I used pink and purple favor bags and attached custom name tags I designed for each guest. A simple tip: punch circles from extra bags and glue or tape them to the front to look like Lego studs.

Inside the bags were several DIY items. We made Lego hair clips from alligator clips wrapped in ribbon with glued Lego pieces and small flower accents. They’re wearable with or without the flower attachment.

Tip: If you need many of the same Lego piece, you can purchase individual pieces at Lego stores or online.

We also made pink, purple, and white Lego friendship bracelets by drilling holes in flat Lego pieces and weaving thread through them. They were time-consuming but special—each bracelet was presented on a custom card I designed.

My favorite DIY: a Lego utensil holder my son built for his sister. It was a standout piece and a fun collaborative project between siblings.

This party remains one of my favorites because the kids helped shape it and genuinely enjoyed every moment. Seeing my daughter surrounded by friends—laughing, talking, and squealing with delight—made all the planning worthwhile. Planning parties together creates pride, family bonding, and lasting memories.

I’d love to hear what you think of this Lego Friends birthday party—please leave a comment!
