Amazon Prime Day 2018: Top Cooking Deals Curated for THK Readers

Update 6:23pm Monday: It looks like Amazon is still experiencing site issues — I thought they’d fixed it, but some people in parts of the United States are seeing problems again. If the links aren’t working for you, keep trying. Prime Day traffic is intense!

It’s Prime Day — that much-anticipated shopping event that feels a bit like Christmas in July.

Prime Day began at 3:00pm EST on Monday, July 16 and runs through 2:59am EST Wednesday — 36 hours of deals and discounts.

Below are Prime Day specials I found that I think you’ll like. I’m highlighting items I’ve written about before or products I own and use myself.

Note: Amazon’s site has been unstable, so I may not have captured every deal. I’m sharing what I found right away and may update later.

Instant Pot DUO60 6-quart (the one I use)

I’ve written extensively about Instant Pots — what they are, how to choose one, and what you can realistically do with them. I’ve also rounded up lots of recipes to get started, from chicken soup and chili to beef stew.

For Prime Day, Amazon is featuring the Instant Pot DUO60 6-quart, which is the exact model I own and recommend. If you prefer a smaller size, the Instant Pot Ultra 3-quart is also on Prime Day pricing. A few Instant Pot accessories are discounted as well, including extra lids, sealing rings, and second inner pots — useful if you like prepping multiple dishes or want a spare part.

T-fal Nonstick Skillet

My favorite nonstick skillet — the one you’ll see in a lot of my skillet meal photos — is included in Prime Day offers. Its nonstick surface and even cooking make it a workhorse in my kitchen. With the Prime Day price, I’m tempted to buy a backup since I replace my skillet every few years.

AmazonBasics Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven

Remember the enameled cast iron Dutch oven I used for our Easy Black Bean Soup photos? It’s a 6-quart and made by Lodge. For Prime Day, AmazonBasics is offering an enameled cast iron Dutch oven in a vibrant red that gives you the look and performance of a quality dutch oven at a lower price point. It’s a great budget-friendly alternative if you love the versatility of enameled cast iron.

USA Pan 1-Pound Loaf Pan

I recommended USA Pan loaf pans when I shared the Cherry-Chocolate Zucchini Bread recipe. These aluminized steel pans have a superior nonstick finish, so you often don’t need cooking spray or flour the pan. They produced different bake times compared to my older glass pans, so keep that in mind when adapting recipes. Prime Day includes the 1-pound USA loaf pans, which are excellent for many quick bread recipes. (My zucchini bread recipe was written for a 1 1/4-pound pan, so check pan size when baking.)

Echo and Echo Dot

We use our Echo and Echo Dots constantly, especially in the kitchen. The main Echo sits on the counter so when my hands are messy I can ask Alexa to add items to the grocery list, set timers, or play music while I cook. The Echo Dots placed around the house are handy for alarms and quick voice commands. They make small daily tasks easier and keep the kitchen workflow smooth.

I’ll keep scanning Prime Day for more deals and will share useful finds as I locate them, so check back for updates.
