Valentine’s Day is approaching, and at our house we prefer celebrating quietly at home. We cook together and, hands down, dessert is my favorite part. We like to say “I love you” with words, but also with chocolate. These Chocolate Chunk Skillet Cookies were made in mini cast iron skillets and are perfect for sharing—or keeping for yourself.

It’s important to show love to others, but it’s equally important to show yourself a little indulgence. This Valentine’s Day I plan to enjoy these skillet cookies and a few bites of DOVE Milk Chocolate PROMISES—I’ll even share some with Curtis. 😉

To make the chocolate chunks, I cut each DOVE Milk Chocolate PROMISE into about six pieces. I love the little sayings inside the wrappers—they’re a fun touch.

I also like adding processed oats to the cookie dough for extra texture. I pulse two tablespoons of rolled oats in a food processor, then combine them with the flour, baking soda, salt, and a pinch of ground cinnamon. Mix the dry ingredients with a rubber spatula and set aside.

In a separate bowl, cream 1/4 cup softened unsalted butter with 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar and 1/4 cup granulated sugar using an electric hand mixer for about 60 seconds. Add one large egg white and 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, then mix until incorporated.

Fold the dry ingredients into the wet in two batches with a rubber spatula, taking care not to overmix. Gently fold in the chopped DOVE Milk Chocolate pieces until evenly distributed. Chill the dough for at least three hours—this can also be made ahead of time.

Divide the dough between two seasoned 5-inch cast iron skillets. Use an angled spatula lightly sprayed with baking spray to smooth and evenly spread the dough so the tops are level.

Bake the skillets at 350°F for about 14 to 16 minutes, or until the cookies reach your preferred level of doneness. I usually bake for 12–15 minutes for a soft center, but ovens vary. Remove the skillets from the oven and let them cool on a rack for at least 15 minutes—be careful, the skillets will be hot.

Serve each skillet cookie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a few extra unwrapped DOVE Milk Chocolate PROMISES on top for garnish. The warm cookie and melting chocolate paired with cold ice cream is irresistible.
