I learned an important lesson yesterday: don’t plan a week of tempting dinners when you’re restricted to a soft-food and liquid diet for ten days. I spent the whole time drooling over these meals and wishing I could eat them all. Ugh!

I had a second round of gum grafting surgery, so for the next ten days my meals will be things like scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt and protein shakes. Thrilling, right? The hardest part is going without chocolate chip cookie dough and cookies for a while (yes, I’m dramatic). I’ll need to do this a third time in about six months, so more soft-food days are ahead.

My periodontist told me that over the years I’ve brushed too aggressively, which caused gum recession and even some enamel wear. Apparently my years of enthusiastic brushing have finally come back to haunt me.

While you enjoy the tasty recipes on this week’s menu, I’ll be surviving on cottage cheese—try not to be jealous.

Have a great weekend!
