I wake up this morning and Eric says, “Can you smell that?”
I look at him, confused, and ask, “Smell what?”
He replies, “Football. It’s in the air.”
I roll my eyes. For me, nothing quite matches the spirit of Auburn and a cozy tailgate with friends and family. I grew up around Auburn football and enjoy game day traditions, but I don’t follow every team. I save my enthusiasm for our favorite games.
Eric, on the other hand, lives and breathes football season. He’s the type who watches last season’s games in spring, already anticipating the next year. No matter who’s playing, “the game” is always on for him. It’s entertaining to watch.
In the spirit of September, the arrival of fall, and the kickoff of football season, I pulled out my craft supplies and lit fall-scented candles throughout the house. While he watches the game, it’s the perfect time for me to work on small projects.
I made a simple fall wreath and added our monogram. The whole project took about 20 minutes.
Supplies
- Stick wreath
- Wooden monogram letter
- White paint
- Paint brush
- Fall flowers (artificial stems)
- Hot glue gun
- Wire cutters
I started by painting the wooden letter white and set it aside to dry while I prepared the flowers. I purchased the flowers on a single stem and used wire cutters to separate each blossom and leaf. Then I arranged the pieces on the stick wreath, feeding the smaller stems through the twigs so they would stay in place. Finally, I secured the painted monogram to the wreath with hot glue.
Happy fall, y’all!
